Designed for a first-course in environmental engineering for undergraduate engineering and postgraduate science students, the book deals with environmental pollution and its control methodologies. It explains the basic environmental technology - environmental sanitation, water supply, waste management, air pollution control and other related issues - and presents a logical and systematic treatment of topics. The book, an outgrowth of author's long experience in teaching the postgraduate science and engineering students, is presented in a student-oriented approach. It is interspersed with solved examples and illustrations to reinforce many of the concepts discussed and apprise the readers of the current practices in areas of water processing, water distribution, collection and treatment of domestic sewage and industrial waste water, and control of air pollution.
